If you are thinking about building on Gevulot, register a key to get access to Devnet for free proof generation and verification.
0G is an infinitely scalable and programmable Data Availability (DA) layer, made possible through data partitioning, as well as the ability to use shared staking to introduce any arbitrary number of separate 0G Consensus networks. Ethereum may act as a DA layer, and other DA solutions also exist, however their throughput and scalability potential are seen as insufficient in bringing high-performant use cases such as on-chain AI to Web3. 0G’s DA provides a 1,000x performance improvement over Ethereum’s danksharding and a 4x improvement over Solana’s Firedancer, providing the necessary infrastructure for the next billion.
To maximize 0G’s fee efficiencies and increase decentralization, the team will offload proof generation to Gevulot’s zkCloud infrastructure to complete DA sampling with low-cost, decentralized ZK proving. In turn, this will be applied in confirming rewards for 0G’s Proof of Random Access (PoRA) mechanism, as well as their DA sampling.
The partnership will help 0G Labs to reduce fees and increase decentralization while supporting the exponentially increasing amount of data arriving on-chain.
The 0G system consists of a data availability layer (0G DA) on top of a decentralized storage system (0G Storage).
Simple workflow:
Data Submission: A user submits data into a data blob, which is organized into chunks,
The data root and commitment are submitted to validator nodes in the consensus layer, while
Chunks are dispersed to 0G storage nodes and replicated via erasure coding,
DAS: Validators in the consensus layer apply DA sampling to confirm existence,
Storage Proofs: 0G Storage nodes (also called miners) submit storage proofs for the data, while 0G Validators request a proof from Gevulot,
Proof Creation & Verification: Gevulot’s zkCloud infrastructure generates the proof, which is verified by a smart contract,
Reward Issuance: 0G Storage nodes are compensated
Additional details on Proof of Random Access:
Zero Gravity adopts a Proof of Random Access (PoRA) mechanism:
0G Storage nodes/miners need to answer randomly produced queries to archived data chunks until they find an output digest that satisfies the target difficulty. When they find this, they can construct a Proof of Random Access and submit it to the mining contract.
The Proof of Random Access consists of a random nonce, a loaded data chunk, and a proof of the data chunk’s correctness.
The contract verifies the proof.
Existing DA solutions are insufficiently scalable, suffering from efficiency and complexity issues, inadequate incentivization, and an inability to store vast sums of data on-chain in a low-cost, fast-retrieval manner.
As such, submitting proof requests to Gevulot’s zkCloud infrastructure can significantly improve 0G’s scalability and ability to maintain industry-low fees. 0G Consensus Validators also benefit from natively bolstered security parameters in 0G’s DA sampling by routing the proof generation to Gevulot’s decentralized prover layer, in turn improving the overall robustness and making this solution one of the most competitive DA layers in Web3.
With Gevulot’s Firestarter, the production-ready Live Network soon to be deployed, the modular integration of 0G Labs and Gevulot will quickly enable a wider pool of use cases, including:
Online games,
High-frequency DeFi & on-chain order books,
Data marketplaces,
Decentralized ID,
RWAs (e.g. metadata for land & car titles),
Collaborative documents (Notion, Google Docs, etc.).
High-performance dApps that were previously infeasible (without massively scaling the extent of data that could be stored, proven, and verified) can now be activated at scale.
“At 0G, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible in data availability technologies. Our partnership with Gevulot's zkCloud marks a pivotal step forward. By integrating Gevulot's innovative decentralized proving layer, we are not only enhancing our Proof of Random Access and Data Availability Sampling processes but also driving down costs significantly. This collaboration represents our commitment to delivering solutions that address the real-world needs of Web3 and AI, ensuring 0G remains at the forefront of modular AI blockchain infrastructure.” - Michael Heinrich, CEO and Co-founder of 0G Labs
