Horizen Labs and Gevulot partner to bring low-cost zkp to the masses
If you are thinking about building on Gevulot, register a key to get access to Devnet for free proof generation and verification.
Horizen Labs is a team of zero-knowledge cryptography experts with a track record of building advanced blockchain infrastructure, well known for their launches of Apecoin, Otherside, Horizen, and other prominent Web3 foundations. The team helped pioneer the world of ZKP with their development of Horizen, a blockchain whose genesis block dates back to May 17th, 2017. Our visions for the future and ethos of ZK importance are integrated just as much as our solutions are soon to be.
Pairing Gevulot’s decentralized prover layer with Horizen Labs’ suite of bespoke services offers a scalable foundation engineered to adapt to the evolving needs of Layer 2 platforms, ensuring projects remain at the forefront of the Web3 revolution. The Horizen Proof Verification Network, developed by Horizen Labs, makes settlement cost-effective for modular blockchain stacks, enabling Layer 2 adoption to grow exponentially. With a 91% reduction in verification costs and over 50% to proving, the optionality to launch a zk rollup is becoming rapidly more cost-effective.
The first use case is to reduce the cost of Validity Proofs for L2 ZK rollups like zkSync, Polygon zkEVM, Starknet, and Linea. Proof verification costs are reduced by replacing the current Solidity based method with one written in Rust. With Horizen Labs’ development of the Horizen Proof Verification Network being focused on the reduction of verification costs, Gevulot can easily absorb the task of proof generation. Rollup as a Service organizations can put Horizen’s zkp verification and Gevulot’s zkp proving to use right away in a combined stack. With partnering companies like Zeeve and Gelato Network crafting bespoke ZK stacks the industry is poised for a surge of growth in this sector over the coming cycle.
In addition to being able to dramatically lower zkp generation and zkp verification costs today, Gevulot and Horizen Labs are working together to develop advanced zk prover sets, a paired prover and proof verification zk circuit, with a much lower cost combined computation requirement.
With Gevulot’s devnet now live as of March 25th, and Horizen's proof verification devnet live as of March 28th, this integration provides a clear, developer-friendly environment so that zk rollups can deploy with low-cost solutions, focusing on innovation rather than infrastructure complexities and overhead.
“Horizen Labs is excited to work with Gevulot on developing zk proof generation and verification for the modular and composable web3 space. Just as Gevulot's permissionless proof generation network improves prover liveliness and scaling with lower costs, the Horizen proof verification network provides permissionless access to efficient verification and attestation services. This is truly an exciting collaboration!” - Rob Viglione, Co-founder of Horizen Labs
